Porter: "I don’t get paid like a rotation guy, so I’m not ready to take that role. I’m not ready to be a role player. I’m still a starter." Porter on continuing to rotate: "I can honestly say I won’t come back to do that. I can’t be happy about coming back playing that role." Porter on his options: "They can pay me. They can pay me and keep me on the team, but I won’t be happy." Click HereJoey thinks he makes the rules on this football team. I can't wait until his ass gets cut.

I don't think he said he makes the rules. He said he either won't stay here if those are the rules or he won't be happy if those are the rules.

Are we really going to argue this? If hes going out of his way to say hes unhappy and won't take that role, doesn't he want the rules to be made into what he wants?

Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter confirmed today that he no longer wants to be a part of the organization in his current role, and he has no intention of playing for the team if they plan to continue rotating him as a role player rather than a starter at weakside linebacker.
``I won't accept it no more, you know what I mean?'' Porter said, while speaking to Jim Rome on ESPN. ``I accepted it last year because I'm a team guy. I just want to play, have fun and win football games.
``When you're winning, all of this stuff is (swept) away. But after seeing how last year went, asking me to come back and play that role again, I can honestly say I won't come back to do that. I can't be happy about coming back playing that role.''
Porter said he believes it would be best if the Dolphins traded him to another team - a prospect that isn't likely to be as easy to do as Porter made it sound.
``I mean, it would just kind of be the smart thing to do,'' said Porter, asked about whether he should be traded. ``Why keep a guy there that you want to make a role player? You're paying me enough money as a starter. So why pay me all that money and make me a role player?
``If you make me a role player, it's saying you really don't want me, right? I mean, I just gave you 17.5 sacks last year.'' Click Here

So he's saying he's not coming back if that's the role he's going to be put in...isn't that his choice? Go America!

Freedom of choice? Absolutely.
Freedom from legal/contractual obligations? Not yet...
Too many people believe that freedom of _____ means freedom from responsibility.
He's not helping any trade value he might have had.

No court has ever used the specific performance remedy in a athlete's player contract.

Can you elaborate in layman's terms? Are you saying that his contract is not enforceable?
If he wants to play in the NFL but not with the Dolphins then he needs them to trade him or release him.... right?

He could probably not play in the NFL (minus a release or trade). Though player's are pretty powerful. A team would rather get value out of a guy then have a malcontent on the roster, generally. But he's well within his rights to not play for Miami if he doesn't like his role. No court would force him to play football for the Miami Dolphins.

But the court could force him to pay back some or all of his signing bonus. Ask Ricky Williams how quitting back in 2004 turned out for him.

lets face it, he's not the first guy who has asked for a trade, hes being honest, he doesn't want to be here because hes not happy, , its not rocket science, hes just being vocal and honest. In every case almost, when a player asks to be traded and is not, he is not happy, , Joey is just honest about it, and we hate honesty

What happened to "slugging it out" without the nonsense? Seems to me the only purpose of your post is to continue the nonsense.
